Is Capital Punishment A Cruel And Unusual Fate - 1853 Words

Is capital punishment a cruel and unusual fate or is it a necessary form of justice? Capital punishment is also referred to as the death penalty. The death penalty is a form of action taken by the court of law where a guilty conviction means you pay with your life. Being an American citizen, I believe that we live in the freest country on earth and have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. However, in our pledge of allegiance it states that we also have justice for all. So, is the death penalty the ultimate justice or is it seeking vengeance through bloodshed? Honestly, there are many valid points on both sides of the argument that is why it is such a controversial topic. It also clearly states in the bible that an ‘ey e for an eye’ meaning that if someone has done you wrong you may take revenge. I’m not saying I blame people for wanting justice to be served when people commit unspeakable crimes but I do believe there are ways of punishing people for the wrong doings they do without adding to the body count.
